Camo cargo pants grew out of mid‑20th century military uniforms, where disruptive patterns were developed to help soldiers blend into forest and brush terrain. After surplus gear hit civilian markets in the 1960s and 70s, hunters and outdoorsmen adopted these prints for their practicality and concealment. By the 1990s, cargo pants and camouflage crossed over into streetwear and hip‑hop fashion, becoming a symbol of utilitarian style.
